Harcourts Charlton Realty celebrate the spirit of the season by recently helping fundraise for life-saving equipment for Harcourts Eden Epsom Tennis & Squash club.
The club are the proud owners of an automatic external defibrillator (AED), a portable device used in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest. The AED assists in delivering a dose of electric shocks to the heart in order to restore its normal rhythm.
“The club is an integral part of the community and helping to get this defibrillator shows that Harcourts Charlton Realty’s job isn’t only focused on real estate, but also giving back to the community we represent,” says Harcourts Charlton’s Sales and Marketing Manager Charlotte Marshall.
The $3,500 defibrillator was part-funded by a Business House Tennis tournament at the club, along with funding from The Harcourts Foundation.
“The addition of a defibrillator to the club has been talked about for a long time and this has now become a reality with the generosity of Harcourts Charlton Realty,” Paul O’Brien Club President says.
It’s not just the almost 700 members who will benefit, but the wider Mt Eden community as well. The club’s AED will be registered on a database showing defibrillators located around New Zealand.
Squash players are especially prone to heart attack risks due to the vigorous nature of the game if they’re not warmed up or very fit.
“In the event of an unforeseen heart attack, having this user friendly, life saving device on site could mean the difference between life and death,” adds Paul O’Brien.
AED Locations will quickly locate the nearest AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) in New Zealand.
